This beautiful natural reserve, located on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, was created in 2007 by a
couple of Colombo-German biologists aiming to create a genetic bank of
plants to contribute to the conservation of nature in the region. Caoba has a collection of medicinal plants with more
than 300 classified species, aquatic plants and animals recovering in a protected area. The Caoba Biological
Reserve is located on an old Tayrona settlement, and still has trails and original terraces. Its imposing
waterfalls are perfect for swimming in the clean waters.
