The largest metropolis in the Andes is spectacularly situated on a plateau of the Andes (2600m), at the foot of the mountains Guadalupe (3317m) and Monserrate (3100m). Bogotá is a city full of contrasts. One of the highlights of the metropolis is the world-famous Gold Museum. In the nearby area are the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá and El Dorado in the lagoon of Guatavita,
Day 1:
Reception at the El Dorado airport by a tour guide and transfer to hotel.
Day 2:
Today you get an overview of the city from Mount Monserrate (3150m) and enjoy spectacular views over Colombia's huge capital. Explore La Candelaria district, a Bogota's well-preserved old town, and visit the world famous Gold Museum with the largest pre-Columbian collection, the Plaza Bolivar and some stunning churches such as San Francisco, San Agustín and Tercera Orden. As optiona, we visit the Botero Museum.
Day 3:
After breakfast we drive 1.5 hours to the lagoon of Guatavita (3000m). Here the legend of El Dorado take place. We walk about 1.5 hours through the magnificent mountain scenery of the surroundings to a great vantage point. Then we drive to the nearby Zipaquirá (about 1 hour). There, we will visit the beautiful Plaza de Los Comuneros and the largest salt cathedral in the world. The visit to the Cathedral takes about 2 hours.
Finally, we will take you back to the hotel or the airport of Bogota. It is also possible to take you at the end of the day to the starting point of the next travel block, for example, Villa de Leiva.
